How We Vet Our Contractors
"Vetted" should mean something. Before a contractor can receive requests through HVAC Match, we confirm the basics that protect you — the same things you'd want to check yourself before letting someone work on your furnace.
What we check
- Gas work licensing. Gas appliance work in Ontario requires a licensed G1/G2 gas technician (TSSA). We confirm contractors hold the licensing their work requires.
- Electrical licensing. Where electrical work is involved, we look for ECRA/ESA-licensed electrical contractors.
- Liability insurance. We ask for proof of commercial general liability coverage so you're protected if something goes wrong.
- WSIB coverage. We confirm workplace safety coverage for their crews where applicable.
- Reputation. We consider a contractor's track record and customer reviews, and we act on repeated complaints.
What we don't claim
We're a matching service, not a guarantor. Our checks reduce risk — they don't replace your own judgment. We always encourage you to confirm a contractor's current licensing and insurance, get the quote in writing, and compare a few options before you hire. Comparing multiple quotes is exactly why going through us tends to save people money.
